The Prayer Breakfast is a special time where people from all parts of the community join together for a time of reflection, encouragement and prayer.
Adrian Peterson graduated from Georgia Southern in 2001, capping an extraordinary collegiate career that witnessed his winning the 1999 Walter Payton Award. The four-time consensus All-American led the Eagles to two national championships and a third title game appearance.
Drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2002, Peterson spent eight seasons with the NFL team, including the 2006 NFC Championship season and Super Bowl XLI. He played one season with the Virginia Destroyers in 2011.
Peterson now travels the nation sharing his story of faith and how a difficult speech disability motivated him to fight harder to reach his life goals. Peterson recently released Don’t Dis My Abilities an inspiring story of hope.

Speaker: Cherie Nettles
Location: First Baptist Church
Born in South Carolina, Cherie Nettles believes all little girls arrive in the magnolia-lined states of the South in three ways, safe, sweet and sassy, and she has chosen to place her emphasis on the “Sassy.” Cherie Nettles is a Certified Laughter Leader, a Christian comedienne, Bible teacher, motivational speaker and writer. Cherie has entertained audiences across the United States with her joy, laughter and motivational messages. Cherie openly admits her favorite audiences always seem to be in Hawaii, but also believes that her Spiritual gift is the fact that she loves the people of every audience.
From overcoming an early start in an abusive addictive family, to finding the joy in her on daily journey with Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 17 and being an Ovarian Cancer survivor, Cherie recognizes life sends us many curves and wallowing in them will result in you sitting on your biggest curve - quite miserably. So, Cherie’s message of hope, inspiration and laughter will not only tickle your funny bone but leave you full of grace, mercy and motivation.
Cherie has co-authored several books, written her own story, “Growing My Divine Shrine: Your Way to Live, Love and Laugh through Life,” written a children’s book, and produced a comedy DVD.
Cherie truly does believe that laughter is medicine to your soul, and she would truly love to come to your event and share her prescription.
Cherie lives in West Columbia, SC with her husband of 25 years (bless him) Mike, and their Yorkie-Poo, Stuffy, and we wouldn’t won’t to forget those feathers from her nest - their son Alex, a 2013 graduate of the University of South Carolina and their daughter Ashleigh, a sophomore at Presbyterian College.
